  Gulf Air
Founded in 1950, Gulf Air, owned by the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman, is the only truly Pan Gulf carrier in the Middle East region.

The regional, geographic and culturalvalues that the airline has embraced over more than half a century are still central to defining its brand and service ethos.

Today the airline´s network stretches from Europe to Asia and covers 50 cities in 30 countries. The fleet comprises 34 aircraft and has the distinct advantage of possessing the strongest network across the Middle East.

A platform for sustained commercial operation has been established over the past three years as part of a multi-phased turnaround programme. It has also provided a framework for a succession of innovative products and services including the unique Sky Chefs and Sky Nannies that form part of Gulf Air’s ’smart airline, successful business’ vision.

International recognition has been achieved as a result of the turnaround programme leading to numerous awards for the airline’s innovative and high quality products and services:

These include:
- The Gulf Air Sky Nanny service has been in high demand since the launch of the world’s first Sky Nanny on its London–Sydney route in November 2003 and we now have over 150 Nannies in the sky.

- Sky Nannies are now available on all of the airline’s flights between the Gulf and London, Paris, Frankfurt, Singapore and Sydney.

- All Gulf Air Sky Nannies are fully trained members of the in-flight crew and are trained in in-flight child services by Norland College in Bath, the internationally renowned training institution in childcare and education.

- The Sky Nanny training course provided by Norland College gives participating cabin crew a foundation in childcare and child development.

- The course includes learning about children’s physical, cognitive, language, emotional and social development, how to manage children’s behaviour in a positive manner, and how to provide suitable activities for young children when travelling.

- At the end of the course the Gulf Air crew member must demonstrate an understanding of how they can best meet the needs of babies, young children and their families who travel with Gulf Air.

- In consultation with Norland College, Gulf Air has recently upgraded its children’s menu with new and healthy options to cater for the diverse needs of each age group.

- Meals are served in a themed box i.e. in a shape of an animal or a house with child sized cutlery.

- The underside of the in flight tray slipmat has either a picture for the young passenger to colour in or a game or puzzle.

- The meals will be served ahead of the rest of the cabin so the youngest children can be assisted by their parents.

- Customers can request a special meal when booking a child's ticket or at least 24 hours prior to departure.

- For the rest of the journey there will also be ‘tooth friendly’ snacks and drinks served. Examples of dishes on the children’s menu include:
